Event: Beckett’s All That Fall at the Jermyn Street Theatre
Location: Jermyn Street Theatre, SW1
All That Fall is a short radio play by Samuel Beckett, commissioned by the BBC for its Third Programme in 1957. This production at the Jermyn Street Theatre will be the first time it has ever been performed professionally on stage in London.
One of Britain’s best known directors, Sir Trevor Nunn, will direct Dame Eileen Atkins and Michael Gambon in the one-act play about a woman’s journey to a train station to meet her blind husband.
Beckett refused the National Theatre the rights to perform the play and the Irish playwright’s estate has only given this production the permission to perform it on condition that it is staged as if it were a live performance of a radio play.
Jermyn Street is the smallest in the West End, with only 70 seats, so tickets will be hard to come by.
