Event: The Benedict Silverman Collection
Location: Richard Nagy, W1
One of the world’s greatest private collections of 20th century German and Austrian art is on show in London for the first time. The Benedict Silverman Collection has paintings by Gustav Kilmt, Egon Schiele, Otto Dix, George Grosz, Oskar Kokoschka and Max Beckmann. It is being shown in its entirety for the first time.
The paintings on show include Schiele’s last painting Round Table, 1917, the most highly valued work in the collection, showing the artist having supper with friends, including Klimt and Alfred Kubin – whose work is also exhibited.
There is also Weiner Werkstätte furniture by Koloman Moser and Carl Otto Czeschka.
Benedict Silverman, a New York financier and philanthropist, is selling the collection to fund a charitable foundation to sponsor children’s education.
The Richard Nagy gallery in Old Bond Street is open from Tuesday to Saturday 12-5pm.
