      Putting a twist on the popular ‘chef’s table’ concept, Hélène Darroze at The Connaught offers instead a Sommelier’s Table: a unique journey of discovery into food and wine that reveals the passion and expertise of the chef and the sommelier.   

      Beneath our legendary kitchens, The Connaught has an atmospheric limestone cellar that houses 6,000 vintage wines of impeccable provenance.

      Attached to the cellar, the Sommelier’s Table is an intimate dining room where Hélène Darroze creates special lunches and dinners that are perfectly paired with wines recommended by our experienced sommelier. 

      We offer a choice of three different Sommelier’s Table experiences: Bespoke, Lunch and Krug Lunch/Dinner.

    The Sommelier’s Table Bespoke Experience – six courses with six wines – is ideal for a special social occasion or intimate business meeting, and is available at either lunch or dinner.

    Guests are first escorted to the wine cellar for a private tour by the sommelier, followed by an apéritif. Lunch or dinner is then served, during which the sommelier will describe his choice of wines as they are gradually revealed, and the chef from our two Michelin-starred restaurant will explain the culinary artistry that goes into creating the menu.  

    As part of this highly interactive bespoke experience, you as host are invited to collaborate with the sommelier over the choice of wines, in advance of the occasion.

    Lunch Experience, Sommelier's Table   

    The Sommelier’s Table Lunch is a four-course menu of seasonal dishes, exquisitely designed by Hélène Darroze to highlight special ingredients such as black and white truffle, rare asparagus, spices or handmade chocolate, with four wines expertly paired to match.

    Following your tour of the cellar, the sommelier and chef are both available during lunch to talk to you and your guests about how the food and wine are chosen to complement one another perfectly.

    Lunch at the Sommelier’s Table costs £150 per person inclusive of four courses, a glass of wine per course and a canelé (small traditional cake) from Bordeaux to take away.

    A Sommelier’s Table lunch or dinner with each course accompanied by a glass of Champagne Krug is a wonderful way to celebrate an important event with friends or family. Your four-course menu is expertly crafted in the two Michelin-starred kitchens of Hélène Darroze, and offered with three styles of Champagne Krug: 
    • Krug Grande Cuvée with the first and last courses, served from a magnum.
    • Krug Vintage 2002 with the second course.
    • Krug Rosé with the third course.
    As with our other Sommelier’s Table experiences, guests are first invited to tour the cellar with the sommelier, and the sommelier and chef are both on hand to discuss the food and champagne pairings.
    The Krug lunch/dinner costs £250 per person and guests also take away a canelé (small traditional cake) from Bordeaux and a special Krug gift.
