    If you are travelling to London in the summer, your children could gain so much from attending a structured programme at one of England’s exclusive Independent Schools. We’ve gathered a selection of residential courses aimed at teenagers, as well as day camps offering fun and education for younger children. Make the most of the London experience – your children can improve their English, learn new skills, play sport and make new friends.

    Residential courses (12-17 years old)

    BABSSCo – The British Association of Boarding School Short Courses


    BABSSCo offers teenagers a chance to improve their English with intensive residential courses. These are hosted at some of England’s most famous and highly- regarded boarding schools, including Harrow School, Dulwich College and Mill Hill School. Students receive excellent English tuition along with a range of sporting activities and cultural outings. There are courses of varying lengths from 13 -28 days, as well as a range of English Language Plus courses with specialist activities including football, golf and performing arts. Most courses are aimed at the 13-17 age group, but some are offered to children from age 8.

    Best Study Abroad – Eton College Summer Courses


    This is a residential course predominantly aimed at Chinese students, giving them a chance to board at the most famous of England’s Independent Schools, where David Cameron, Boris Johnson and Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury were educated.  The three-week residential course in July and August offers English tuition, cultural appreciation, drama and public speaking and trips to places of interest. On average, students experience a 25% increase in their English level. For students aged 13-17.

    There are equivalent two-week courses aimed at a younger age group (8-12), hosted at Tonbridge School and Charterhouse School, as well as an exclusive English and football course hosted in Manchester, and including visits to Manchester United and Manchester city football grounds.

    Bell English courses at Wellington College


    Bell English runs residential courses at Wellington College, one of the largest and most exclusive private schools in England, situated in picturesque Berkshire, close to Windsor. There are three course options – intensive English study, a Business Leaders course for those who wish to develop business skills, and a Young Performers course for budding actors, singers and dancers.

    These courses are aimed at the teenage age group (12-17), but Bell English also offer options for younger learners (7-12) at other locations in England. Courses begin on 2nd July.

    Winchester College Pre-College Enrichment


    Winchester College is one of England’s most famous independent schools, founded in the 14th century and is 100km south west of London. This intensive course is aimed at international students who are already confident English speakers, and includes skills classes on subjects including preparing for exams, business plan writing and storyboarding, as well as interpersonal, communication and life skills. Students choose a different Major and Minor subject to focus on in each week of the four-week course.  The course is aimed at 15-17 year-olds, and offers 22.5 hours’ tuition per week, with cultural and sporting activities seven days a week, including a number of day trips to London, Bath and other historic locations.

    Day camps for younger children (3-14 years old)

    Supercamps


    This highly experienced company offers non-residential day camps for children aged 3-14. There are multi-activity camps which offer a wide range of cultural and sporting choices, as well as specialist camps for cooking, arts and crafts and more. You can book for as many or as few days as you need, and there are a number of locations in and around London, including St Nicholas’ Preparatory School which is opposite Hyde Park, and St Dunstan’s College near Dulwich.

    Barracudas


    Barracudas offer activity day camps for 4-14 year olds in locations around the UK. The most suitable one close to London is hosted in Barnet, at the Queen Elizabeth School. Camps include a great many fun activities including swimming, trampolining and arts and crafts, all run by highly experienced trained staff. The courses are tailored to different age groups, so the 4-6 year-olds get a very different timetable to the 11-14 year-olds.

    Camp Beaumont


    Camp Beaumont is a highly experienced Day Camp operator, and operates in several London locations which may be suitable, including Christ’s School in Richmond and Mill Hill School in North London. Camps offer many sporting activities, as well as specialist care for 3-4 year olds. Camp Beaumont caters for ages 3-16.
