The Sommelier's Table
Beneath the Connaught’s legendary kitchens lies a hidden treasure in the form of the Sommelier’s Table
Overlooking one of the most coveted wine cellars in history, the table offers a unique view into the world of fine wine and the food that accompanies it.
The Connaught Sommelier's Table
Accommodating a maximum of eight covers , the round table is set against a backdrop of oak panelling lined with fine art, upon a floor of hand-carved limestone. The limestone extends to the wine cellar itself, the porous nature of the rock allowing it to breathe, thus ensuring a constant flow of air around the bottles.
Following an initial consultation with the host, and taking into consideration any special preferences, the Head Sommelier will devise a tailor-made selection of wines, which is then presented to Hélène Darroze and her team to create a 7-courses tasting menu.
Guests foregather for cocktails in the Coburg Bar before being personally escorted to the wine cellar and given a tour by the Head Sommelier, followed by cocktails and canapés. Lunch or dinner is then served by the sommelier and chef, who will explain the background to their choice of food and wines.
Guests depart with their own souvenir menu and special gift to remind them of a unique and exclusive experience.
The Sommelier`s table can be reserved Tuesday-Saturday for either lunch or dinner. The cost of the experience is £1200 inclusive of room reservation and chef`s tasting menu. The chef creates the menu to accommodate the number of guests in the party. The wines are an additional cost.
