Champions Tennis

I always look forward to playing in London and there is no court quite like the Royal Albert Hall. Champions Tennis across the years has become a real highlight in the calendar for me and I'm excited to be back competing for another year.

Champions Tennis at the Royal Albert Hall is the season-ending finale to the ATP Champions Tour, in which former men's champions compete in one of London's most atmospheric venues.

The list of players usually reads like a roll call of past big names of men's tennis, a list that this year includes Henri Leconte, Marat Safin, Pat Rafter, Juan Carlos Ferrero and Tim Henman (a favourite with British fans).

To be eligible for the competition players must have either ranked no 1 in the world, played in a Grand Slam singles final, or played in a winning Davis Cup team — and there are also two wildcard players. The competition has both singles and doubles matches.

Champions Tennis is known for its atmosphere and entertainment. The players still want to win, but they are under less pressure and happy to have a little fun too and engage with the crowd. The acoustics in the Royal Albert Hall are great, so you can hear every word uttered. All in all watching top class tennis in one of Britain's most treasured venues is a great way to spend a wintery day or two.
