The Connaught Launches Its First Book With Assouline
13 October 2025
The Connaught has announced the launch of its first book, The Connaught, published by the internationally acclaimed Assouline. In this beautifully written edition, author and renowned journalist Bill Prince masterfully captures the soul of The Connaught, unveiling its rich legacy as a heritage hotel that seamlessly blends tradition with contemporary flair. From the opening of the hotel, built on Carlos Place in 1897, to the present day, the book celebrates the longstanding and dedicated team, the much-loved local neighbours and the loyal and distinguished guests, all who make up the extended Connaught family.
Each page transports readers through The Connaught’s storied halls, illustrious guest list, and timeless charm. From art and design to gastronomy and celebrity, the book offers an intimate look at the many facets that make up the hotel.
The Connaught is a celebration of the hotel’s history and timeless relevance with notable stories throughout the years, standing as a cultural landmark that has been an enduring symbol of hospitality and service for well over a century. Since the beginning, the hotel has welcomed discerning travellers and distinguished guests to its Mayfair home from Queen Elizabeth II, King Charles III, Princess Grace of Monaco and Alfred Hitchcock to Princess Diana, Jack Nicholson and Dame Maggie Smith. The hotel has always been a byword for a particularly British charm that values courtesy, privacy and discretion above all else.
The hotel has so many incredible stories and guest memories from over the years, it is an absolute joy to see this captured all together in one very special book. We hope that The Connaught’s longstanding motto, Placere Placet – the pleasure to please, will always ring true, with our unwavering standards and innumerable creative talents who have brought this handmade hotel to the very forefront of global hospitality for 2025 and beyond.
